Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi Chuan, which means Grand Ultimate Fist and is pronounced tie chee chwan, is a martial art that today is known as a gentle exercise regimen which is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Tai Chi Chuan has been practiced in China for centuries and is still a daily routine for millions of people there, especially the elderly.  Tai Chi Chuan is designed to enhance overall health through slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and deep breathing.

Similar to many practices from the East, Tai Chi Chuan is based on spiritual and philosophical ideas that advocate a need for balance in the body, mind, and spirit. This however does not diminish the effectiveness of the techniques for personal defense. Training includes empty-hand forms and techniques, broad sword, double broad sword and straight sword forms.
